Eight years after the release of my first album “16 Rembetika Songs for Guitar”, I come back with a collection of songs mainly form the postwar period.
Drawing upon folk guitar techniques, my aspiration is to unveil the instrument’s capacity and expressive autonomy. Both these elements are particularly manifested in the songs originally written for bouzouki.
The splendid artistry of those songs is often overshadowed by the intimacy and emotion accumulated through their journey in time.
Seeking their underlying magnificence has been a perennial spiritual journey for me, while at the same time challenged me to explore new territories in folk music.
Sixteen outstanding performers, each of them with a unique career in Greek music, lend their brilliance to our shared vision and come together through our common language.
A lyrical Esperanto where musical notes take the place of words.
